NOIYSE’s commitment to youth development has led to this new proposed program that focuses on using art and service to communicate healthy messages of identity and linking the value of that identity to a service based learning experience.

The “Through My E.Y.E.S. (Educating Youth through Expression & Service) Program will focus on helping AAMSM identify how their personal expressions and opinions relate to healthy behaviors. Over the course of a five month project, AAMSM between the ages of 18-31 will meet  for group discussions, activities that bolster AAMSM networks and engage the community and will culminate in a Photography Exhibit that will communicate the journey of participants' experience in the program as well as their story as an AAMSM.

The Exhibit will communicate such themes as: "Knowing Your Status", "Healthy Relationships", and "Pride."

The purpose of the Through My Eyes Project is:

  • To create a diverse network of AAMSM to commit to supporting arts via the "Through my E.Y.E.S." project and beyond by hosting future arts events.
  • To identify AAMSM that will function as a part of a diverse network to participate in an art exhibit that communicates healthy life choice behavior, pride and HIV awareness.
  • To communicate diverse (age, economic background and profession) healthy AAMSM relationships and life choices through still photography.
  • To use the exhibit as a catalyst to dialogue about current issues in the AAMSM community and create allies and avenues to address them.

The Through my E.Y.E.S.  photography exhibition project will focus on these main themes:

  • Knowing Your Status
  • Promoting Pride
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Homelessness
